Peace

I'm the worst kind of person -
one who believes in a better world
a better way of life
Creating heaven on earth
instead of creating strife
What does it matter my attitude?
Only that my attitude gives rises to my actions
and my actions give me the world I live in
Haven't you begun to notice
that though it seems things like fear and hate and greed
are hardwired into our world, ourselves
That almost all of the time, it's clear
my attitudes, my choices
are what make the difference between
violence and peace?
between death and life
What would happen if we just all chose life?
Far out, I know. Extremely unlikely,
downright impossible, some might say.
But for each of us, we get to choose each day
either way, it's up to us
So I see a possibility for peace and harmony
I'm the worst kind of person, I know
Yes, there's a real world out there. That's well established.
But haven't you noticed it's the inner world that gives us all the meaning, all the significance?
The setting is secondary to the experience of ourselves.
It's our choices that determine our experienced reality - the only one that makes a difference.
It take tremendous courage to accept that and own that.
Do you need proof? Do you need the truth of what I say?
I don't have it, and I don't want it. The real test that I can see -
it works as advertised. In my experience, I choose to choose my experience.
I've had it the other way. That's fine. I choose mine.
